Types of screens in televisions – which one to choose and how do they differ?
Technology is not slowing down – something new appears all the time. Choosing a television can be overwhelming. OLED, QLED, Mini LED, classic LED... Stores are full of abbreviations, and salespeople throw specifications around like confetti. What do these names really mean? And what will work best in your living room?
OLED or QLED
If you care about deep blacks and a cinematic atmosphere, OLED is an excellent choice. Each pixel operates independently. The result? Fantastic contrast and vibrant colors. It's a great option if you enjoy evening screenings in a dimly lit room.
QLED works a bit differently. It still uses an LCD panel but adds a layer of quantum dots that enhance color saturation and brightness. Ideal for bright rooms – even in the middle of the day, the picture is clear and retains its intensity.
Mini LED vs. OLED
Mini LED is a modern response to OLEDs, but without their typical weaknesses. Thousands of tiny diodes illuminate the screen with precision, improving contrast and brightness. While it doesn't offer as deep blacks as OLED, it compensates with durability and handles details well – both in dark and very bright scenes. For gamers? A perfect choice – zero risk of burn-in and very good dynamics.
But that doesn't mean OLED is going out of style. It all depends on how you use the television. If you value the most natural image and cinematic effect – OLED still holds the top spot.
What about classic LED?
LED is almost a standard now. It still dominates in many models and has many advantages: affordable price, solid image quality, good durability. It may not deliver spectacular effects like OLED or Mini LED, but if you're looking for something budget-friendly and reliable – it's a sensible choice.
What to choose?
It all depends on what is most important to you. Do you value cinematic experiences? OLED. Do you watch mainly during the day? QLED or Mini LED. Is price important? LED.
The best? See for yourself.
